Tal Ben-Shahar is an author and lecturer who taught the most popular course at Harvard University on "Positive Psychology," and the university's third most popular course on "The Psychology of Leadership"-with a total of more than 1,400 students.

Ben-Shahar consults and lectures around the world to executives in multi-national corporations, the general public, and at-risk populations. Dr. Robert Biswas-Diener is widely known as the "Indiana Jones of positive psychology" because his research on happiness and strengths have taken him to such far-flung destinations as Greenland, Israel, Kenya and India. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Happiness Studies and the Journal of Positive Psychology. Dr. Biswas-Diener is Program Director at the Centre for Applied Positive Psychology, a UK based consultancy, and has trained professionals on four continents. Dr. William Tan

Associate, National Cancer Centre, Neuroscientist and Paralympian
Dr. William Tan personifies both passion and compassion. He contracted polio at the age of two and was paralysed from the waist down.
Notwithstanding his disability, he has shown outstanding strength in overcoming adversities. From a kindergarten drop-out, he is now a Holder of a First Class Honours in Physiology, a Harvard University's Fulbright Scholar and Oxford University's Raffles Scholar and has also trained at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in USA. In spite of his disability, Dr Tan is also an accomplished sportsman. An Asian-Pacific Games TRIPLE GOLD MEDALLIST, he has also competed in many international games including the 1988 Seoul Paralympics, the World Games as well as the Commonwealth Games.

He had also received widespread national and international recognition including the highest youth accolade the Singapore Youth Award; the Outstanding Young Persons of the World Award (Humanitarian/ Voluntary Leadership), USA in 1997; the Commonwealth Youth Award for Excellence in Youth Work; the ASEAN Youth Award and the Public Service Medal in 2000.

On 6th April 2007, Dr Tan became the first person in the world to accomplish a marathon in the North Pole and on 19th December 2007, Dr Tan became the fastest person in the world to complete 7 marathons across 7 continents. Dr. William Tan contracted polio when he was two and became paralysed from the waist down. Despite his handicap, and a humble family background, he went on to become a neuroscientist and a medical doctor, winning scholarships to Harvard and Oxford. He also became Singapore's best-known Paralympic wheelchair athlete.
In the past twenty years he has participated in marathons and ultramarathons all over the world, and raised millions of dollars for a large number of charitable organizations both locally and internationally. This is his first book.
 

Professor David Chan

Professor of Psychology, Deputy Provost, Singapore Management University, and internationally renowned scholar and recipient of numerous awards including Distinguished Early Career Contributions Award and William Owens Scholarly Achievement Award

Professor David Chan is Professor of Psychology and Deputy Provost at the Singapore Management University. He has published numerous journal articles, authored several Handbook chapters and Encyclopedia entries in the fields of measurement, data analysis, and organizational psychology, coauthored a textbook in personnel selection, and delivered several invited keynote speeches and presented numerous papers at international conferences. He has received several scholarly awards including the William Owens Scholarly Achievement Award and the Edwin Ghiselli Award for Innovative Research Design presented by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He was also the first non-American to receive the prestigious Distinguished Early Career Contributions Award from the Society. In 2000, he was ranked 9th world-wide in the list of Top 100 most published researchers of the 1990's in the field of Industrial-Organizational Psychology. As of early 2009, his works have been cited over 1000 times in international journals in the disciplines of psychology, management, and research methods and statistics.

Professor Chan is Editor or Editorial Board Member on several international journals in psychology, management sciences, and research methods. He was an elected Representative-at-Large Member of the Executive Committee of the Research Methods Division, Academy of Management. In Singapore, he is Consultant to the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, Singapore Police Force, and Singapore Prison Service. He has also worked with various public and private organizations in the United States on personnel selection projects and large-scale surveys.

Professor Chan is a member of the National Council on Problem Gambling and Chairman of the Council's Committee on Research, member of the National Youth Council's Advisory Panel on Youth Research, and Board member of the Lien Centre for Social Innovation. He is Chairman of the International Advisory Panel to the National Addictions Management Centre and National Council of Problem Gambling.

Professor Chan is on a 6-member international committee, which included Nobel Laureate Professor Daniel Kahneman, which recently submitted a report to the United Nations on measures and accounts of national well-being across countries. He is also scientific advisor to an international group of researchers working on a multiple-country research programme on culture and cognition funded by the United States Air Force.

Thomas is paralysed from the chest down after a fall from the third floor of an apartment in 1998. Since his accident, Thomas has been a voice for the physically challenged for the

past 9 years by giving inspirational talks to schools, organisations and private companies about the challenges the physically challenge faces and how the community can respond to their needs.

His talks are straightforward, witty and thought-provoking.
