"Things don't always necessarily happen for the best, but we can always make the best of things that happen."

Message from Philip Merry - President PMCG

For 20 years I have been proud to call Singapore my home and it is obvious to me that Singaporeans are positive and optimistic – but don’t always show it and sometimes forget what truly makes for happiness. Building on our successful pioneering happiness conference of 2008 PMCG brings you the 2010 Happiness & Resilience Conference 2010. I have chosen Resilience as our conference theme this year because it is a quality we need for the times in which we live. Research in 2010 by Accenture reports that more than two-thirds of corporate leaders say that “resilience (the ability to overcome challenges and turn them into opportunities) is “very important” or “extremely important” in today’s workplace.”

When things go wrong - loss of health, job, relationships, savings, or even when we lose hope in a brighter future - it can be an opportunity for learning effective strategies for coping. Difficult times can break us, but they can also make us. Resilience is the key and is defined as the positive behaviour we show when facing adversity that allows us to bounce back. Positive Psychology research shows us that focusing on strengths, optimism, gratitude, and a positive perspective can help build self leadership, engagement, productivity and ultimately – resilience and happiness. Productivity is a “hot” topic at the moment but it is not only about statistics and numbers, it is essentially about having a personal productivity mind-set. By attending our conference you will understand how resilience and happiness are essential elements for boosting engagement and productivity at home and at work.

So come join me at this premiere event that will provide you and your staff with the research, tools, and techniques to grow happiness and resilience skills and a mindset to "make the best of things that happen”. It will be first class learning experience that will build your happiness and positively change your response to life's difficulties forever.
